Ray S. Kim, Ph.D. (Psychologist)

Ray S. Kim, Ph.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Co-Occurring Substance Use and Mental Health Disorder Professional. Since 1997, he has been providing psychological evaluations and counseling services at Horizons Behavioral Health. Dr. Kim is also an Allied Health Professional at AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital and has lectured at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His areas of expertise include anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse, child and adolescent issues, and relationship problems.

Dr. Kim received his bachelor’s degree with departmental honors in Psychology from Northwestern University in 1988. Subsequently, he earned both his master’s degree and doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Temple University. Dr. Kim’s postdoctoral training was in Child and Adolescent Psychology at the Rogers Park Child and Adolescent Services Program, as well as Forensic Psychology at Elgin Mental Health Center. During his career, he was recognized as a Diplomate of the American Psychotherapy Association and Fellow of the American College of Advanced Practice Psychologists.

In addition, Dr. Kim has participated in research in the field of Psychology. He has numerous publications and presentations in both Clinical Psychology and Forensic Psychology. Dr. Kim is dedicated to assisting his clients find solutions to their problems, strengthen their sense of self, and improve their quality of life. In 2015, he received the Vitals Patients' Choice Award for being one of Illinois’ favorite psychologists. He is also listed in the 2021 Edition of Marquis Who’s Who in America.
