Dr. Venkata Jampala, M.B., B.S. (Psychiatrist)

Dr. V. Chowdary Jampala is a Board Certified Psychiatrist with additional experience in Geriatric Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry, and has been practicing psychiatry for over 35 years. He currently practices at Horizons Behavioral Health and serves as a Professor of Psychiatry at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science/Chicago Medical School.

Dr. Jampala graduated with his Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) degree from Guntur Medical College, and completed a rotating internship at Government General Hospital in India. He then came to the United States and completed a residency in General Adult Psychiatry at the University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School, serving as Chief Resident during his final two years. He also completed post-graduate studies in research neuropsychology.

In addition to his practice experience, Dr. Jampala is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and is a member of several other professional organizations including the Illinois Psychiatric Society, and Indo-American Psychiatric Association. He has participated in several research studies, the results of which have been published in leading medical journals, and he has co-written many book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles. The many honors Dr. Jampala received include a Young Investigator Award from the National Association for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression, and an Excellence in Research Award from Indo-American Psychiatric Association.
